Goalkeeper Jerseys — What Makes Them Different
GK shirts use thicker, more padded fabric on elbows & shoulders to protect during dives. Long sleeves are standard at every level above youth.
Most pro keepers wear a size up from their outfield size for unrestricted shoulder rotation when reaching for crosses.
Look for moisture-wicking mesh panels under the arms — keepers spend long stretches still and need ventilation when they finally move.
Authentic vs Replica Jerseys — What's the Difference?
Authentic (player issue) — Slim, tailored cut. Lightweight engineered mesh (Nike Vaporknit / Adidas HEAT.RDY). Heat-pressed badges & numbers. Retail ~$150 / FutMarket from ~$85.
Replica (fan version) — Looser, more forgiving cut. Heavier polyester. Stitched/printed badges. Retail ~$90 / FutMarket from ~$45.
Both are 100% genuine — the difference is purely fit, fabric tech, and price. If you don't play in your shirt, replica is almost always the better value buy.
Home, Away & Third — Reading a Modern Kit Cycle
Home — The club's primary identity colours. Released in May/June for the new European season.
Away — Complementary or contrasting palette, rotated to avoid colour clashes. Usually launches in July.
Third — The marketing kit. Most experimental design, often pulls from city culture or club archives. Drops in August/September.
Fourth / Special edition — Champions League, derby, or anniversary editions. Limited stock, holds resale value best on FutMarket.
Jersey Sizing — Why Yours Runs Small
Modern football kits are cut tighter than streetwear of the same letter size. If you wear a Medium tee, you'll likely want a Large in an authentic player-version jersey.
Brand quirks: Adidas runs slightly long in the torso. Nike sits true-to-size but tight in the shoulders. Puma is the most generous of the Big 3.
European/UK clubs use UK sizing on the label; MLS & Liga MX use US sizing. A "Large" Premier League replica is closer to a US Medium-Large.
Jersey Size Conversion (Adult)

| M | 38–40 | 96–101 | 48 |
| L | 40–42 | 101–106 | 50 |

Spotting a Fake Jersey — 5 Quick Checks
- Stitching on the badge — authentic crests are heat-applied or finely embroidered; fakes show loose threads or glue residue.
- Fabric weight — replicas are smooth and breathable; cheap fakes feel plasticky and stiff.
- Holographic tag — Nike, Adidas, and Puma all use holographic auth labels with QR / scratch codes.
- Sleeve & sponsor printing — fakes often misalign sponsor logos by a few millimetres.
- Inside neck tape — should be clean, evenly stitched, and brand-marked.
